Gotham is New York City's first cannabis concept store in New York's East Village. Gotham, which opened on May 11th, 2023, is local investor and philanthropist Joanne Wilson's response to disjointed cannabis retail in Manhattan. From premium, locally grown cannabis to eclectic books and clothing, Gotham aims to be a neighborhood fixture for years to come.
Foster Project collaborated with Gotham to unearth an unmistakable yet familiar store identity. To develop this, Foster Project searched through archives of documentary photography, exhibition ephemera, and local architecture to understand the visual atmosphere. Ultimately, the Bowery's dynamic and diverse history inspired a timeless, expressive, and distinctly local brand.
